Grammars for Question Answering Systems Based on Inteligent Text Mining in Biomedicine

چکیده
-A top-down approach to the determination of grammar engineering methods for the construction of Natural Language Grammars for Question Answering Systems based on Intelligent Text Mining for Biomedical applications is presented in the present paper. Our proposal is to start with the formulation of the ultimate task goal such as specialized question answering and derive from it the specifications of the grammar engineering methods such as hand crafting or machine learning. The task goal we have experience in involves syllogistic inference with scientific texts and models in biomedicine. An important kind of knowledge that we deal with is causal knowledge expressed either linguistically or formally. The linguistic expressions we deal with involve causal verbs that connect noun phrases that denote entityprocess pairs. An illustrative example of a Text Grammar is given and a pilot experiment towards Memory Based Induction using TiMBL is described. The results obtained so far render problematic the automatic induction of multilevel grammars.

Olelo’s named-entity recognition web service in the BeCalm TIPS task
Named-entity recognition (NER) is an important preliminary tasks in many text mining systems. However, few web services are currently freely available for use. The BeCalm TIPS challenge aims to evaluate web services for biomedical NER in terms of reliability and performance. We participated with our dictionary-based NER which is part of our Olelo question answering system. Since the start of th...

Evaluation plays an important role in interactive question answering systems like many computational linguistics fields. The coherence between the questions and the answers exchanged between the user and the system is one of the important criteria in evaluating these systems. In this paper, a new approach to determine the degree of coherence of generated text by the IQA systems is presented. Th...
متن کاملQUESTION ANSWERING AND Rhetoric ANALYSIS of Biomedical Texts in the AROMA System
-Question answering with intelligent knowledge management of biomedical texts and analysis of rhetoric relations in the AROMA system is presented. The development of the AROMA system aims at the creation of an intelligent tool for the support of the discovery and adaptation of biomedical models based on data extracted from natural language texts. The system operation includes three main functio...
متن کاملOptimizing question answering systems by Accelerated Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO)
One of the most important research areas in natural language processing is Question Answering Systems (QASs). Existing search engines, with Google at the top, have many remarkable capabilities. But there is a basic limitation (search engines do not have deduction capability), a capability which a QAS is expected to have. In this perspective, a search engine may be viewed as a semi-mechanized QA...
